Registration
For online bidding and absentee bids
You can register online through the button “Login | Register” on our homepage. You will be directed to the registration form on which you have to fill in several details. As soon as you have completed the form you will receive an email, asking you to complete your registration by clicking on the link in that same email.
For bidding in the salesroom and telephone bidding
To bid in our saleroom you will need to register in person at our office. This is possible up until the day of the auction. You will receive a personal bid number with which you are able to bid during the sale.
You can also bid by telephone. You will receive a call when your lot number is up. This allows you to participate in the sale without being present in the room. If you want to request a telephone line, we kindly request you to notify us at least 24 hours before the sale by filling in the contact form.
Please keep in mind that telephone lines are only available for lots with low estimates above €1000,-, unless agreed otherwise. We advise you to register for a telephone line well in advance as there are only a limited amount of telephone lines available.
Bidding during different types of auctions
Timed online auction
The General auction is the only timed online type of auction at Vendu Rotterdam.
The auction will open only online at a specified start date. From this moment on, you can bid on all lots available in the Online Catalogue of the specific auction. Please note that you must be logged in to participate. You can choose to place a direct bid or leave an automatic bid with a maximum amount. If you choose to do the latter, our system will then automatically bid for you up to your specified maximum. You will receive an email notification when you are outbid. You can bid up to and including the specified end date, after which the lots will close gradually. This way you can easily leave a bid wherever and whenever you want. If you placed a bid in the last minute, the closing time will be extended by 3 minutes.
Please keep in mind that you are always bidding the hammer price. This price is excluding the buyer’s premium.

Salesroom auction
The Art & Antiques auction, Design auction, Jewellery & Watches auction and Collectables auction are salesroom type of auctions.
During a salesroom auction you can bid live online via your personal account, by telephone or from the salesroom in person via your personal bidding number. When you want to bid on a lot number in the salesroom, keep your auction number up in the air so the auctioneer can see you. If you have successfully placed your bid, the auctioneer will make a note of your bid number and you can pay for your goods after the auction and collect them from our administration.
If you are registered as a telephone bidder, we will call you five lot numbers in advance. When your lot number is up, we talk you through the bidding process and ask you at each stage whether you want to continue bidding. This continues until you have successfully bid or when you indicate that you wish to stop bidding.
Additionally, you can leave written (absentee) bids in advance if you are unable to attend the auction in the hall or bid online. Placing a written bid works the same as placing a maximum bid during a timed online auction. Our auctioneer will start as low as possible and will bid on your behalf until he has reached your indicated maximum.
Unlike with a timed online auction, you will not receive any interim emails when your bid has been outbid. You must follow the auction live to be able to bid when your lot is up for auction.
Please keep in mind that you are always bidding the hammer price. This price is excluding the buyer’s premium.
